Heard of Paloma - winner of PFW's 2009 Emerging Designer Show

Having won the PFW Emerging Designer show, almost a year ago, Paloma emerges into something beautifully fresh - Mythaus.  Fusing paint and fashion design, the collaboration of the two artists, Paloma Soledad and Robb Kramer was a must see.

The show began with a fresh and breathtaking performance by Nightshade. A light and a fairy-bug. The audience watched as the bug transformed into this beautifully decorated woman, with wings.

The performing artists Teeth demonstrated modern dance, as the show began to segue.

One take on the introduction, pictured below, was "women's struggle with image".  We, as women, are constantly trying to conform to what the world wants us to be.  The model, below, depicts the struggle.

This next picture represents women expressing themselves exactly how they want to be.  Whether it is strong and bold with artistic hair, or timid and shy with modest clothing, being yourself is the best person you could be.

I want to reitterate this explanation of the show is coming from one person's idea of what the show meant to them.  This is not coming from either artists' mouths.

Way to go Mythaus!

Being a Girl is Always Fun

Edgar Degas, Classical Bell Tutus in "The...Image via Wikipedia
Tutu skirts are all the rage right now.  I see infants to 10 year old girls sporting these anywhere from ballet class to a shopping trip around the mall. They are fresh, fun and all-girl!

On the side of designing and running my business - Belladonna Marie, I designed and made this beautiful tutu skirt for my friend's daughter. I must say that 5 year old birthday parties cannot be beat. We had so much fun making crowns, necklaces, getting our nails painted and basically being the princesses that we are.
Whether you are sporting tutu skirts or luxury garments, nothing beats being a girl!

Up in the Air

Cover of "Up in the Air"Cover of Up in the Air
The "Up in the Air" Fashion Show was literally up in the air.  With the backdrop of the sky and a random, cirrus cloud, the runway show was breathtaking.

Apart from being held on the rooftop, creating this state of luxuriousness, the show alone was unique.  Instead of having designers showcase their own designs, boutiques were showcasing their favorite garments sold within their shops.  I loved the take on this and it went over well with the audience.

Having some of my best buds there topped the evening off with complete perfection. We laughed, got our picture taken a ton of times and celebrated to our hearts delight.  I will definitely be doing this again.

Fun fashion - Up in the Air.  Thank you Karen Vitt and the Neat Sheet.  :)

May is my Model

Wall Street, Manhattan is the location of the ...Image via Wikipedia
My little girl inspires me to be the mom and business owner that I need to be.  She has so much fire and every part of this world releases wonderful expressions within her, which she in turn interprets out.

She is so much a little firecracker and friendly with everyone. Sometimes a little too friendly.  Everywhere we go, she decides she is going to meet new people and explore new things.  One of these things is purses. A second of these things is shoes.

One of her, and my, all time favorite moments was the time we visited DSW.  If you have been, you will know what I mean when I say 'shoe heaven'.  It was the first time I realized I am raising a dramatic fashionista, and she is doing it all on her own.  She must have tried on over 30 adult heels that day! That's right. It is only fun when the shoe is 3x too big and 4x too high.

Every meeting I go to, she is my little tag-along. Everyone says she is going to be the next Belladonna Marie model.  Of course, that would be fine by me, but I love seeing her develop into her own little person, with a full personality.

May is and will always be the light that inspires Belladonna Marie.

Belladonna Marie's Rockin' Models

Wow! It is hard to believe that it was over a month ago when we celebrated the release of the BMarie SS2011 collection at the Belladonna Marie launch party. It was so thrilling and all the guests had a blasted great time!

I would like to take this moment to celebrate the models. WIthout them, the runway would be pretty boring. Thanks for sporting Belladonna Marie, ladies.

Not Your Mother's Fashion Show

How exciting is that title? I recently had the opportunity to meet the owners of Sixth Street Gallery, in Vancouver, WA. Along with being introduced to fellow designers from 'across the bridge', it was an excited night. I am even more thrilled to be a part of this great fashion show.

Kicking off the season, on August 7th, it is promised to be an afternoon full of fashion and fun! Not only that, but it is also a great opportunity to give back. The proceeds from all ticket sales, along with a portion of all designer's sales, is going towards great non-profits like "Dress for Success", local elementary schools and the Arts!

How great is this! See additional information on www.sixthstreetgallery.com . I hope to see you there!
