Fresh Starts for 2012

Right now, everyone is buzzing on health. "Get in the gym, go running, whatever it takes to stay in shape this year - right?" As one who prides myself if staying ahead of the game when it comes to staying fit, I commend you. However, what I want to focus on this year is keeping my face healthy.
What I mean by that is, I am going to take extra precautions, go the extra mile and be vigilant  with taking care of my face.
Step one: Clean make-up brushes daily. (If you haven't invested in a great set of makeup brushes - do it. I recommend MAC. For an affordable option, Sonia Kasuk for Target).
Make It Perfect Brush Kit/Special Edition
Mac Special Edition: Ice Brush Kit
Step Two: Ensure the make-up you are using is quality. I prefer a liquid with a powder highlighter and bronzer. (For makeup, I prefer Laura Mercier. Bare Escentuals is great for powder.)
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 (Large Size) ($84 Value)
Third: Take the time to put a mask on once a week. I used to think masks were ridiculous and a waste of money, but I recently discovered one that really works - Nicole Miller's Pore Refining Mask. Of course, everyone has different needs depending on skin type, so seek the one that works for you.

Rain is Refreshing

If you live in the PNW, rain can seem to be the norm, what we are used to. However, let's not forget how nice it is to not have to walk around in slush all day, or get bundled up like a snowman every time we step out our front door.  When it comes down to it, it's just water. And, it is refreshing. Here are some staples to celebrate the season -
1) An amazing raincoat.
Mossimo Supply Co. Featherweight Raincoat - Rose Print
Mossimo, Target, $29.99

2) Rainboots, of course.

3) An Impossible Umbrella.

Embrace the Rain

One can't run away from the weather, so why not embrace it.  Looks like this week's forecast is bringing us nothing but rain, so prepare to look fabulous with the following pieces:
Whether you call them rainboots, wellies or galoshes, these are sure to be the best pick-me-up addition to rainy style days.

Joules carries unique styles that will keep style fresh and personal (on sale at $75). However, for a more budget-appealing pocketbook, department stores like Target and Khols have great selections.

It doesn't really matter what you throw together for an outfit. Covering up with a beautiful raincoat is a must. Picking one with a fitted waist will flatter the body, while keeping you completely dry.
Women's Ruffle-Front Raincoat
This Perriwinkle Ruffle-front coat by Travel Smith makes a perfect piece for on the go - comfortable, tasteful and easily folds up into your tote.

Last, but not least, topping the look off with a fashionable hat, to keep rain off the face, will complete our rain-embraced style. Brim and bucket hats work best.

This hat designed to be rainproof can be found at Bonnet Boutique on NW 11th, in Portland, OR.

Predictions for 2011

Fashion has seen enough lounge-style, drape-wear. Get ready for structure!  One of my favorite looks, that I believe we can all pull off with 110% style is the recent 'look of the day' I found on InStyle.com (below).
Charlize Theron in Dior
It represents a slow transition from drape to high-end structure. Great way to show off monochromatic!

Another great look, I absolute adore, came from a recent Gap advertisement. Modeled by one of my ultimate models - Yaya Dacosta (America's Next Top Model - Season 3) - this look showcases high style with low cost.
Completely on trend with tights and oversized sweater vest, she pulls it all together with a belted ribbon.

Without saying too much, denim will always be on trend. Hot off the shelf - William Rast denim, selling at TARGET!! And, starting at only $17.99....I know.

Have fun splurging and saving on these fun ideas for 2011...and don't forget about Belladonna Marie.

A Few of My Favorite Things

Rachel McAdamsImage by Osei (Ozzy) via Flickr
Now that the holidays are in full swing, I decided to share some of my current favorite things, when it comes to fashion.

Talbots new collection! I am loving the romantic embelishments found on almost every piece of their current collection. Check it out at http://www.talbots.com/.

Rachel McAdams is fabulous! She is so inpiring to me.  I love that she is this high profile actress, who still finds time to garden at her beautiful Canadian home. Check out the recent photo shoot she did at http://www.instyle.com/.

Cinnamin popcorn is divine! What a perfect time to celebrate cinnamin popcorn. It is hard to find throughout most of the year, but during the holidays you are sure to find it in almost every store.

Sonia Kashuk's pencil case! Not only is her case perfect to hold make-up and other necessities, but it is also a perfect holiday clutch. Check it out in store or on-line at http://www.target.com/.

Thanks for reading. I have decided to make my blog a new way to share my favorite finds in the fashion industry.  Today is a great day to be a follower. Stay tuned for holiday favoite steals and deals.
